For a cheap take on
oxidized metal, Jason tackled an ambitious
project: He painted tin tiles with muriatic
acid from a home center, then sealed and waxed the
tiles before adhering them to the wall with adhesive
and adding furniture tacks. (Note: Protective clothing
glasses, gloves, and a mask are essential.)

The
original hinges were surface mounts. “We
kept the same idea since it showcases the
hardware well,” Rebecca says.

cabinetry's paint looks dark gray on its chip,
artificial light gives it an olive green hue (the
